The importance of well-being 'Cinema': the work of cine museums in the turn of new millenium

Talking about the role that cine museums cover related to the well (or not so well) being means considering the nature and the evolution of cinema as an industry, a language of art, a technological expression of the material culture, and a form of collective heritage, recently recognized.

This change has been accompanied by the same reconfiguration of the museological institutions that since the last part of the Nineteenth Century have been reconsidered as places not only for preserving or promoting objects’ transmission but as an open space for researching, communicating and representing individual, social or environmental issues.

So, the work on cinematographic heritage could not be limited to the exhibition of memorial, artistic, or technological traces about it. Moreover, as the medium itself, could allow generating thoughts, sensations and connections that impact the political economy, sociability, embodied experience, and free creativity.

Therefore, starting from a research on new functions, activities and relationships through and for the cinematographic heritage of global and Italian cine museums, this proposal aims to present a first picture of the modalities in which they contribute to the well-being supported by some examples. This could help to enlighten the importance of the cinematographic heritage as a co-creative play, not always linear, in the activation of a perceptive, reflexive, medial and contextual sensibility.

For this reason, to conclude, it will be necessary to adopt in future a deep knowledge of the medial power of cinema through aesthetic theories; indeed, understand how it dialogues with the contemporary visual culture; and follow an ecological approach in order to move through different systems of connections and forces of objects, subjects and spheres.
