Jay Arora

Jay Arora is a second year Ph.D. student in the English department at Rice University. His research concerns 20th-century American studies, with a particular interest in theories of race, gender, and sexuality. His past work has spanned the wide range of American culture, from the study of blues music to histories of meat production/consumption. Recently, his paper “Killing Floor Blues: Factory Farming as American Grotesque” was published in Proteus, the Rutgers University Comparative Literature journal. In addition to research and teaching, Jay is also a part of the JD Doyle Archives, a Houston-based center for preserving queer history in Texas.
