Alexandra Staniewska

Alexandra Staniewska is a Social anthropologist with a specialisation in forensic biology. PhD student at the Institute of Anthropology and Ethnology of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. Her research interests include bio- and necropolitics, death and dead bodies studies, exhumations and historical politics, as well as physical anthropology and forensic genetics. She has conducted ethnographic fieldwork in Spain, working on exhumations of the Spanish Civil War victims, financed by a Diamond Grant (2017) awarded by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and carried out under the scientific supervision of Ewa Domańska. From 2020 to 2022, she did a research internship in forensic genetics at the Luis Concheiro Institute of Forensic Sciences (Instituto de Ciencias Forenses ‘Luis Concheiro’, INCIFOR).
